Overview
The HVAC Restoration Technician executes the field work on mold protocol and IAQ projects under the direction of the Coordinator. The Technician follows the work document provided by the Coordinator, executes the assigned scope, documents the work, and escalates anything that falls outside scope.
On-Site Process
Review the Work Document
- Read the full work document before arriving on site
- Confirm tools, materials, and equipment needed for the job
- Resolve any questions with the Coordinator before arriving on site
Walk the Site
- Verify the work area matches the assigned scope
- Capture before photos of every work area
- Note any conditions that differ from the work document and flag with the Coordinator before starting work
Coordinate with Restoration Vendor
If the restoration vendor is on site, coordinate directly on:
- Access and timing in shared work areas
- Sequencing within an active workspace
Escalate to the Coordinator on any scope changes, timeline changes, or disagreements that cannot be resolved on site.
Execute the Scope
- Complete the assigned scope to protocol standards
- Maintain a clean, organized work area throughout
- Protect surrounding finishes and contents from damage
Capture Documentation
Required photos for every job:
- Before photos of every work area
- Progress photos at key milestones
- After photos showing completed work and cleanup
- Photos of any damaged or compromised components found
Escalation: Stop and Call the Coordinator If
- The discovery would expand scope into full duct replacement
- The discovery would expand scope into HVAC equipment replacement at a system-redesign level
- The discovery indicates structural or building envelope issues outside HVAC scope
- The discovery materially changes timeline or sequencing
- There is any uncertainty about whether to proceed
For minor discoveries that do not change overall scope, document with photos and continue.
Closeout
- Verify all assigned scope is complete to standard
- Walk the work area
- Submit photos and field notes to the Coordinator
- Confirm completion so the Coordinator can verify and close the project
