1. General Safety Rules
- Seatbelts:
All occupants must wear seatbelts – no exceptions. This is both company policy and state law. - Traffic Laws:
Obey posted speed limits, signals, and parking rules at all times. Tickets or violations incurred while driving a company vehicle are the driver’s responsibility. - Phone Use:
Never text, scroll, or handle your phone while driving. If a call is urgent, pull over safely or use Bluetooth hands-free. - Impairment:
Operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or impairing medication is grounds for immediate termination. - Visibility & Weather:
Use headlights during rain, fog, or low-light conditions. Reduce speed in poor weather and maintain control at all times. - Defensive Driving:
Keep at least a 3-second following distance and increase that buffer at highway speeds. Check mirrors frequently and avoid blind spots. - Behavior:
Aggressive driving, tailgating, or “road rage” of any kind will not be tolerated. We expect professional composure on the road.
2. Accident and Violation Procedures
In the event of an accident, theft, or citation:
- Ensure Safety First: Stop immediately, turn on hazards, and check for injuries.
- Contact Emergency Services: If anyone is hurt or if there’s property damage, call 911 right away.
- Notify Management: Call your direct supervisor or the on-call manager as soon as it’s safe.
- Document the Scene: Take clear photos of all vehicles, license plates, and surroundings.
- Exchange Information: Cooperate with law enforcement and gather contact info from all parties involved.
- Incident Report: Submit a written report to management within 24 hours.
Failure to report an accident immediately may result in disciplinary action.
3. Ongoing Safety Responsibility
- Regularly review company safety policies and updates.
- Attend any required driver safety or defensive driving training sessions.
- Report any known hazards (e.g., faulty brakes, low tire tread) immediately.
